What is coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring device. CoolSculpting’s fat-freezing technology freezes fat cells, causing your body to naturally eliminate the cells. This process takes 1-3 months and will result in 20%-25% fat reduction to the treated area.
Am I a good candidate?
If you are 5 pounds within your goal weight and are looking to rid stubborn areas of fat resistant to diet and exercise, yes. We offer complimentary CoolSculpting consultations in our office to determine candidacy and develop a treatment plan. Patients with a history of raynauds (cold intolerance), cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or pernio (chilblains) are not candidates for this treatment.
How long do results last?
As long as proper diet and exercise are maintained, results can be permanent and life long.
Does it hurt?
The application will be placed on the treatment area and there will be a light vacuum sensation. You will feel a cooling effect within the first 10 minutes and may experience tingling for the remainder of the time. With the CoolAdvantage applicators, treatment time is now 35 minutes as opposed to 60 minutes. These applicators cause less bruising, swelling, cramping, firmness, and stinging.
After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the area to break up the treated fat cells and enhance the fat reduction. That’s it!
Can coolsculpting work on double chin?
Yes, with the CoolMini. It is used to treat submental fullness. Two treatments are usually necessary fro optimal results.
What areas of the body can work with coolsculpting?
With CoolSculpting, you can pinpoint exact trouble spots where you’d like to reduce fat. The treatment is FDA-cleared in 9 different areas from double chins to back fat. Additional areas include flanks, bra rolls, distal knees, abdomen, inner and outer thighs, distal thighs, underneath the buttocks and upper arms.
Are there any side effects?
Potential side effects include but are not limited to numbness, tingling, itching, bruising, and slight swelling. Rare side effects may also occur. Paradoxical hyperplasia (visibly enlarged tissue volume in the treated area) may develop two to five months after treatment and requires surgical intervention for correction.
One time treatment?
While you will see up to a 20-25% fat reduction in the treated area after a single treatment, it depends on the person and the area being treated. Your provider will work with you to determine if additional treatments are necessary to reach your desired goal.
